Chef-owner Jimmy Nicholson started durangourmet with the goal of applying his more than twenty years experience in restaurants worldwide towards the creation of an exceptional full-service catering company for Durango and surrounding areas.
Jimmy received his formal culinary education in Auckland, New Zealand, where his training focused on classic French cuisine and fresh Pacific seafood. He honed his skills in restaurants, hotels, and resorts in London, Australia, Scotland, and Breckenridge, Colorado.

Our inspiration was the beauty of fall in the mountains. It is definitely our favorite season with the warm sunny days and cool nights, and the changing of the aspen leaves to glowing gold. We wanted to bring that feeling into our wedding day while complementing the mountain lodge architecture of our venue, and keeping in mind Silverton’s Victorian/mining history.
There were lots of heel clicks, Lion King songs, funky socks and laughter at this Durango wedding. Claire and Marcus are avid backpackers so they chose to incorporate their beloved Nalgene bottles and backpacks in their photos with adorable signs that said “Just Married”.
