A Simple & Fun Wedding at Ridgewood

Danielle & Nathaniel  |  August 4th

From the bride: Nathaniel and I love the outdoors and the mountains so we wanted to tie that in with our wedding. The décor was simple and minimal.

We had a huge wooden cross that was the centerpiece of our ceremony that was built by one of our church members.

Our ceremony minister was our church pastor from our college. Nathaniel and I first met at this church. The ceremony was very personalized, as our church pastor already knew us both. He had our whole audience laughing.

We had wooden slices of pine and aspen tree trucks.

Our favors were coffee grounds in a little paper bag that said “the perfect blend” with our name and date.

We displayed a collage of many of our pictures. We also had hung pictures on twine with mini clothes pins in unique areas around the venue.

The first dance was completely magical!

The dancefloor and party held after dinner could have gone all night, WE ALL WERE HAVING SO MUCH FUN ON THAT DANCE FLOOR.

ADVICE

Don’t get too overwhelmed in the small details, think about the big picture and the things that will last forever, the memories and the pictures! I would advise everyone to use a day of coordinator, that way all your family can relax on the big day and everything will flow so smoothly.

THE WEDDING TEAM

RESOURCE: We had several copies of the Durango Weddings Magazine circulating throughout the family for all members to look at. The magazine was especially helpful for finding a photographer and florist and it was the inspiration for our rustic romance style. We had family friends of ours attend the Durango Wedding Expo as we were still in college in Las Cruces, NM. Their feedback was very helpful, especially in cake tasting.

VENUE & FLOWERS: Ridgewood Event Center. The most magical site you will ever see is this place lit up at night! Joan was our day of coordinator! Completely recommend! Couldn’t have done it without her!
