A Simple Durango Wedding Planned in Three Months at River Bend Ranch
Maria & Jeff | August 25, 2018
From the bride… We have both been married before and we recently moved to Durango from Tucson. Once we arrived around May, there was talk of a wedding in the future, maybe in a year or so…but we decided after seeing how beautiful Durango was and how happy and in love we were here that we should get married sooner than later and before the colder weather set in. It was around the first week in June when we picked a date and pulled it all together for a wedding on August 25th. We planned an intimate and simple day that expressed our love of nature and beauty.
THE VENUE
We chose River Bend Ranch for the beautiful view and outdoor setting.
The most memorable moment was being walked down the aisle by my two sons.
THE CEREMONY
The ceremony was held in front of the lake with the early evening sunset reflecting off of the lake and mountains. My favorite memory was the exchanging of vows that we wrote ourselves and walking out at the end to Stevie Wonders “Signed, Sealed Delivered I’m Yours.”
THE FAVORS
Each guest was given a goodie bag labeled “Love so Sweet” with local chocolate, Honeyville honey, a candle and a lump of coal in with a card and quote, “A diamond is merely a lump of coal that did well under pressure.”
My favorite reception memory was our first dance!
The most memorable moment was dancing with my father- everyone cried!
ADVICE
Keep it simple and make it fun! Make a list of things that need to take place on each day leading up to the wedding and keep track so as to eliminate some stress. Keep it simple – sometimes less is more. Just have fun!
