A Casual & Fun Outdoor Wedding
Margo & John | July 6th
From the bride… We love the mountains and trees and wanted to be outside for our wedding. Durango was the perfect place for us to get married!
THE VISION
We wanted a casual and fun outdoor party that all of our friends and family could join in on to help us celebrate.
THE STYLE
Relaxed and modern with as much greenery as we could bring in and a hint of glam. We used neutral tones with lots of greenery, some touches of blush, and a little gold.
THE FLOWERS
I wanted eucalyptus everywhere. Not only did it look great, but it made the venue smell amazing. I really wanted eryngium thistles incorporated, and I felt like it gave some variety to the bouquets. There were also blush/ white roses and some smaller white flowers.
THE ATTIRE
Since it was a summer wedding, we wanted to make sure the whole wedding party was comfortable, so we want with mid-length skirts and spaghetti strap dresses for the bridesmaids. I loved the shiny blush color of their dresses since I felt like it kept it modern and casual.
THE VENUE
We chose and absolutely loved Reising Stage! We had a large guest list (200), and we wanted the option for indoor and outdoor. It was the perfect size! The venue owners were so accommodating and helpful and such a pleasure to work with.
THE CEREMONY
My sister decorated the arbor with a beautiful flower arrangement and some draping with white fabric. The father of the groom was the officiant, and he did a great job! It made the ceremony very personal, and we loved how well it all flowed.
My favorite memory was the feeling when it was all over! We could finally kiss and walk down the aisle as a married couple.
THE RECEPTION
Outside, we had a bar area with wine and beer and a salsa bar for snacks before dinner was served. There were also lawn games and a fire pit outside for guests to use. Inside, we had the band set up in one corner and our table in another. We also had a photo booth and cake table on the other end of the barn. There was enough room for the tables and the dance floor, which was what we really needed (and got!).
THE DECOR
My mom and sisters did all of the flowers and greenery.
THE DESSERT TABLE
My mother in law made all of the cookies for our dessert table.
THE CAKE
One of my best friends made our cake, which was so special.
LOOKING BACK
I wish I would not have stressed so much about my wedding dress. Once we were there, I wasn’t even thinking about what I was wearing.
ADVICE
Remember to spend time with your new spouse. It can be so easy to spend the whole time making sure you talk to everyone that you forget to spend time with the other person. Make sure to take at least a few minutes of quiet time to enjoy the event with your partner.
