Winter Bliss Elopement

Lacey & Chad | February 20th

From the couple…

We turned our elopement into a whole weekend of celebrating with our families. We had a hot cocoa night, a day at the hot springs, a welcome dinner at Lola’s, and our wedding reception at Black Diamond Lodge. It was a perfect way to spend time with everyone while relaxing.

WHY DURANGO

We were both born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. We chose Durango because we love the mountains and find Colorado way more beautiful than Texas. One of our favorite hobbies is to spend time together skiing. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our marriage than while on skis! Bonus: in Colorado, you can marry yourselves, which we wanted to do.

We met our families at Purgy’s for a pre-vow send-off. We hugged everyone before waiting in line to go up the lift. Our families mingled while enjoying coffee and donuts at the base while we skied to the top of the mountain to say our vows.

Our vows were intimate and private with a snowy mountain backdrop and a serene atmosphere. It was magical and romantic!

While on the mountain, everyone we came across cheered and congratulated us. We felt like celebrities!

We skied back down to our families and had a celebratory champagne toast.

THE RECEPTION

Later that afternoon, we celebrated the night in true ski fashion with an intimate après ski dinner at the Black Diamond Lodge. We loved how intimate our reception was. We could talk to all our guests while also enjoying ourselves. We felt happy and relaxed the whole evening!

LOOKING BACK

We smile every time we look back at our wedding, which still feels unreal. We thought our families would be so upset with us for wanting to elope and have a small wedding, especially since we wanted to share our vows alone. Our families were so supportive, and our wedding weekend was completely us. It captured everything we love to do.

ADVICE

Turn your wedding into a weekend celebration all about you. Share things you love to do with your loved ones. Chad and I love Colorado and the mountains. We were able to share some of our favorite things with the people we love the most while celebrating our marriage.
