A Sci Fi Wedding

From the couple, Ou & Lance: We chose Durango for our destination wedding because the area is very beautiful and mountainous, and it was important to us to hold the wedding outside and to incorporate the environment as a backdrop.

We composed the ceremony script ourselves, with the wording inspired by Ancient Greek ritual, Vulcan marriage rite and a few key points from our shared knowledge of fundamental physics.  

The idea was to keep the ceremony focused toward our exchanging vows and completing the unity ritual, which was mixing wine (actually single malt scotch and a unique type of strong rice wine from China).  We linked arms to drink, which is a tradition from Chinese wedding ritual.  

We were pronounced husband and wife with a physics inspired blessing: “May the dimensions be with you… Always”.

Our most memorable moments were being able to take a little alone together, while having our “couple” photos taken with various backgrounds around the property.

 Quotes from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy were handwritten on all the cocktail napkins.

Our Advice: Relax and take time to enjoy other things besides thinking about the wedding.  Plan and communicate all the details/schedule with your wedding party.
