Eternal Bliss at 10,200 Feet
From the bride, Melissa: We wanted to get married on top of a mountain and at a resort that was intimate so all our friends and family could come together for a few days and bond. We did not want the “wedding blur” that we have heard brides talk about after their wedding. We wanted a few days with everyone, together, in one intimate and beautiful spot. Purgatory Resort was family friendly and affordable and had unbeatable mountain views.
The Durango Weddings Magazine helped me locate great vendors and relieved a lot of anxiety. I loved reading the stories and experiences from other couples.
I watched the clouds and lightening roll in about 60 minutes before the ceremony started, I was worried the storm was going to hit. However, the sun broke through and the weather held up. It was beautiful and magical at 10,200 feet!
We wrote and read our own vows and had a “tree planting ceremony”. We have planted the tree in our yard.
My uncle made the wooden holders to place our lanterns and flowers on for the centerpieces.
Looking back, Durango is so beautiful and off the beaten path, I can’t imagine getting married at any other place. I still smile at the weekend memories.
