A Durango Campout Wedding

Erica & Morgan

From the bride: I wanted a big elegant mountain wedding, he wanted a backyard wedding. So we came up with a big campout wedding.

April’s Garden beautifully dressed the arbor in flowers and lined the walkway with Eucalyptus.

We held the ceremony in a meadow off of Old Lime Creek Road.  We had all our guests standing, since it was going to be a short ceremony. It rained for 30 minutes as everyone was arriving, but then 10 minutes before I was to go down the aisle, the sun came out and it made for a picturesque ceremony with the shining mountains as the backdrop.

We held the reception at Chris Park campground. This was the perfect spot for our campout wedding. It has a beautiful pavilion with picnic tables for 152 people. A private location that everyone could access and a big fire pit and outside game areas.

We served blueberry cake doughnuts.

I loved having most of our guests staying at the campsite so they could really relax and enjoy themselves all night.

Looking back, I would have hired a wedding planner sooner! We could not have done it without our wedding coordinator.

THE WEDDING TEAM

Planning Resource: The Durango Weddings Magazine helped me pick my vendors, like April’s Garden and helped me see the latest trends in the Durango area for weddings.  I sent the Magazine to my family and friends helping me with the wedding to see ideas I was wanting for my wedding. I also got a lot of inspiration for things at the Durango Wedding Expo and I found my photographer, Jenne Anne who helped me set up my whole wedding.

Flowers: April’s Garden. They exceeded my expectation! Colleen was a huge help.
