A Ceremony in the Rain
From the bride, Stephanie: We wanted a wedding that was casual, fun, and not too stuffy. We wanted our style to mimic our personal lifestyle. It was important to have something small so total guest count was just 60. Justin grew up in Durango and we both love the mountains so a destination wedding in Durango was an easy choice for us.
THE CEREMONY
We held our ceremony in the meadow at Silverpick Lodge surrounded by aspen trees and a beautiful mountain backdrop.
THE RAIN
A few minutes into the ceremony it began to drizzle. The rain got progressively worse and became a downpour. Everyone got drenched but no one moved…they accepted they would be soaked and just enjoyed the ceremony.
I loved our kiss in the rain.
THE DECOR
The décor was simple black and white with a pop of color. Our pots for the centerpieces were hand painted by a family friend.
My favorite detail was the Mr. and Mrs. sign for the sweetheart table. It was handmade from an aspen log that we found in Durango the first time we visited.
THE WEDDING TEAM
Venue, Food & Lodging: Ceremony Site: Silverpick Lodge. They made the whole weekend so easy. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the décor was perfect. Plus, it was so convenient to have the ceremony, reception and lodging all in one place.
Photographer & Photo booth: Shutterfreek. The photo booth was a great addition. Everyone has so much fun!
Honeymoon Location: South Africa and Zimbabwe. Safari, wine country and beach/whale watching. Amazing!
