Romance at Ridgewood

From the bride, Paige:
Carl grew up in Durango, I grew up in Tucson, AZ and we both went to school in Seattle. Seattle was very far away for most family and guests, Tucson is WAY too hot in the summer, so we chose Durango for our wedding!

A Romantic wedding at Ridgewood, Durangoshutterfreek0102 shutterfreek0103The ceremony was held on the lawn at Ridgewood Event Center at 4pm. It was a perfect sunny day. Carl and I wrote our own vows and read them to each other and we served each other communion as our first act as a married couple. We then served communion to our wedding party and had a few friends serve it to the rest of our guests. One of our good friends and one of Carl’s cousins read scripture for us. My aunt played the harp during the processional – “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and “Marry Me” by Train.

Our gift table included wooden pallets containing all kinds of local produce, jams, jellies, succulents, herbs and flower seeds that guests could fill up paper bags with.

shutterfreek0106 shutterfreek0107 shutterfreek0108 ADVICE: Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Our parents and wedding coordinator did so much work, which was a huge blessing for both of us since we were still students and out-of-state.

Rainbows, Sunsets & Unbelievable Views at Canyon Crest Lodge

Katie & Tom  |  June 4, 2016  |  Pagosa Springs, Colorado

From the bride:
We chose Pagosa Springs as our wedding destination because Pagosa was our first vacation together. We went skiing at Wolf Creek over spring break in 2015. We would highly recommend a wedding Pagosa because everyone was very accommodating and the hospitality is second to none. Plus there was plenty of things to do – white water rafting, hiking, shopping, ziplining, and of course dining options.

THE CEREMONY
The ceremony was held outside overlooking a breathtaking view of the canyon. The décor was fairly simple and consisted of flowers and hanging baskets lining the aisles and pergola. People could not believe how beautiful and romantic it was.

FIRST DANCE
My favorite reception memory was our first dance. We took weeks of dance lessons and had prepared a choreographed dance to Ed Sheerans, ‘Thinking Out Loud.” It was so much fun preparing with Tom and when our special day was here it made it so special to dance together. It felt like we were the only two people in the room and was so romantic. We still love doing our dance together.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT
The most memorable moment was when there was a triple rainbow over our reception tent. All of our guests came out of the tent to look and watched as our photographer caught the magical moment.

LOOKING BACK
One thing that I wish that we had done was hire a videographer. I so wish I had the day documented.
