A Ceremony in the Rain

Stephanie & Justin  |  July 8, 2015  |  Silverpick Lodge

From the bride: We wanted a wedding that was casual, fun, and not too stuffy. We wanted our style to mimic our personal lifestyle. It was important to have something small so total guest count was just 60. Justin grew up in Durango and we both love the mountains so a destination wedding in Durango was an easy choice for us.

We held our ceremony in the meadow at Silverpick Lodge surrounded by aspen trees and a beautiful mountain backdrop.

A few minutes into the ceremony it began to drizzle.  The rain got progressively worse and became a downpour. Everyone got drenched but no one moved…they accepted they would be soaked and just enjoyed the ceremony.

I loved our kiss in the rain.

The décor was simple black and white with a pop of color. Our pots for the centerpieces were hand painted by a family friend.

My favorite detail was the Mr. and Mrs. sign for the sweetheart table. It was handmade from an aspen log that we found in Durango the first time we visited.

Country Fun at Ridgewood

Karie &  Randal  |  May 22, 2015  |  Ridgewood Event Center

From the bride: We wanted our wedding day to be laid back and fun for all.

We held our ceremony outside facing the beautiful La Plata Mountains.

The photo booth by Shutterfreek was a huge hit. We all loved it and the pictures afterward were so fun.

Looking back, I would have started the wedding a little earlier to give ourselves more time.

My advice: Don’t get too tied up in planning that you forget to enjoy it. Don’t expect everything to go perfect. Decide what parts are most important to you and focus on that and relax on the rest.

Photographer, Video + Photo booth: SHUTTERFREEK {more info}.  They did an amazing job on the pictures. The photo booth was so much fun and they were helpful the whole way through the wedding. Katie was like having a friend with me and I had just met her. She also helped me with a timeline of when we should do things like the first dance and bouquet toss. And they were all so nice to everyone. A complete joy to share our day with.

Cake: Sweet Cakes Bakery. The cake was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. Our quests went on and on about how good it was. Ilene also made us chocolate covered strawberries that were very tasty. She also had great customer service and went above and beyond to make our day great. Highly recommended.

Hair & Makeup: La Roux Salon. Very professional and so much fun. They were such a blast to have around and we looked great.

Cruising to Durango to Get Married

Kelly & Jeff  |  June 18, 2015

From the bride: We asked our guests to bring their motorcycles out to Durango because we knew they had no idea of the beautiful scenery they would experience. The day prior to the wedding, we all rode the Million Dollar Highway to Telluride and, needless to say, they all loved the area and want to come back to Durango.

Our decor was simple and romantic with lots of candles and a soft color palette of gold, champagne and Tiffany blue.

I wore a Sottero and Midgley dress.

I walked don the aisle to “Someone Like You” by Van Morrison.  My two-year-old son gave me away. The ceremony was very intimate with just close friends and family.  My favorite memory was the smile Jeff had on his face the entire time.

The reception was very relaxed. No cake cutting, special dances or bouquet/garter toss – just great friends and great food and music.

My advice: Enjoy the time, enjoy the day. Don’t stress about the details. What is important is that you are getting married!

Photographer: IlluminArts Photography (more info). Drew was so very patient and so very, very helpful.

Venue: River Bend Ranch Durango (more info). Gorgeous setting and very accommodating!
