Mad Hatter Forest Tea Party

Melinda & Mike  |  July 30th  | Pagosa Springs, Colorado

From the bride:
I wanted our wedding to be fun without the formality and I loved the idea of a whimsical ‘Alice in Wonderland’ tea party.

During our ceremony, the weather was cloudy with a strong possibility of heavy rain. As our officiant began reciting an Apache wedding verse, she said “and there will be no more rain” the sun broke through the clouds for a moment and our guests all gasped and then laughed. Shortly after the ceremony, it rained, it poured and then it hailed.I spent six months collecting mismatched china from second hand stores.RECOMMENDED VENDORS

Simple Mountain Country

Jessica & Preston  |  August 15th |  Echo Basin Ranch

From the bride, Jessica:
We love the mountains, horses and everything country, so we created a simple country wedding with a touch of vintage charm.   I love the feeling of warm rich colors, so I chose a Maggie Sottero “Brielle” dress in a vintage gold hue. When I saw bridesmaid dresses (Bill Levkoff) in warm wine with a golden sash, I was in love.

We used western boots from Hobby Lobby filled with fresh roses as centerpieces under the glowing aspen trees with a few amber tealights scattered around and golden yellow table runners that my mother made for us. I loved my cowboy boots!

Featured Wedding: Clorinda & William

Photography by IlluminArts Photography

From the bride, Clorinda:
We wanted to make our wedding an adventure by combining both our love of the outdoors and our love to hit the road and travel.  We also wanted an intimate experience with just the two of us.  So we planned a fun and adventurous destination elopement.  We decided on a 10-day road trip across the Four Corners region.  At the end of our adventure, we planned to tie-the-knot in Durango, Colorado.

HONEYMOON IN REVERSE
We flew from our hometown of Boston, MA to Albuquerque, NM and embarked on our wedding adventure, exploring the national parks and sites across New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.   Our last stop was Willowtail Springs, a family-owned inn tucked away in the mountains just outside Durango, where we would say “I Do.”

THE DAY

We walked around the Willowtail Springs property, found the perfect spot on the dock, surrounded by water and overlooking the mountains, to say our vows.  After a simple, yet sweet ceremony led by Chessa Gill, we jumped into a canoe, relaxed on the lake and enjoyed each other’s company as we sipped champagne.  It was both invigorating and relaxing!

Photographer: IlluminArts Photography.  Drew & Candice were very helpful and created a unique experience for us. They actually jumped into a canoe and rowed to the middle of the lake to capture the perfect images.

Ceremony/Lodging: Willowtail Springs.  Inn keepers Peggy & Lee Cloy have a property with a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere and lots of interesting artistic touches.  We truly enjoyed our stay.

Bouquet: April’s Garden
