A Rustic Ranch Wedding

So many fun details from this ranch wedding in Montana.  We love the gigantic wood picture frame and the wedding cake that’s a replica of the couple’s beloved dog.  Add in rustic decor under a big white tent with colorful wildflowers and mountain views and it all equals wedding perfection!

2015 Durango Weddings Magazine

 Emily & John  |  September 24, 2014

From the bride: Our meeting was love at first sight 6 years ago, in the very spot we got married! We wanted to do things ourselves and keep the wedding in tune with who we are. Simple became our catch-phrase when deciding things. We grew all the flowers ourselves, all 160 napkins were from my late grandmother, and our favors were homemade (“made with love!”) calendula salve. Every dinner plate was different (a collection of old family plates, thrift store, and borrowed plates).

We wrote our own vows on yellow lined paper up in the mountains, and as we read them to each other our dog came up to the altar and laid down beside us!

We planted a plant with our parents to symbolize our families coming together.

It rain during the reception, which was beautiful, especially since we were safe in the tent.

Our favors were customized bottles of really good olive oil from friends in Italy who couldn’t make the wedding.

Photographer: IlluminArts Photography {more info}. Drew is an incredible photographer, and a seasoned warrior with wedding photography. We appreciated his experience and calm commanding presence within the buzz of our wedding day. He was patient and professional with our changing schedule and ideas. And he took beautiful photos on our wedding day.  All our guests have continued to rave about how awesome Drew was, and what pictures he took! I highly recommend IlluminArts.

Caterer: Durangourmet {more info}. AMAZING. We all loved working with Jimmy. He took our whole experience above and beyond what we expected. From our first meeting, to sampling the meal and appetizers, to negotiations for local food, to the final weekend meal presentation, Durangourmet was fabulous to work with. I would highly recommend Durangourmet to all, for any occasion.

Wildflowers & Mountains

Brittany & Chad  |  June 11th  |  Durango, Colorado

From the bride:
We had decided early on that we were having a Colorado wedding in my home area of Southwest Colorado. We also wanted a black and white color palette – mainly for the b/w photos and because I was going for a retro look.

Photography by Allison Ragsdale Photography

I wore my moms pearls.I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED my wedding dress, veil and pink shoes! The yellow roses I carried in my bouquet were in remembrance of my grandma. Our preacher had also married my parents 30 years ago.The arch that we were married under was made by my brother.  The mountains still had snow on them and the rustic look of the aspen arch perfectly framed them. I messed up my wedding vows.  I thought I was finished repeating after the preacher but he wasn’t finished! I guess it gave everybody a good laugh. The evening was perfect – perfect weather, perfect setting, deer were even wandering through the meadow as the reception was going on!Our first dance – literally was our FIRST dance. Chad doesn’t like to dance at all and refused to practice with me.  It also happened to be the first time I had ever danced with my dad – my dress ended up tangled and we were laughing through the entire dance.
