Country Fun at Ridgewood

Karie &  Randal  |  May 22, 2015  |  Ridgewood Event Center

From the bride: We wanted our wedding day to be laid back and fun for all.

We held our ceremony outside facing the beautiful La Plata Mountains.

The photo booth by Shutterfreek was a huge hit. We all loved it and the pictures afterward were so fun.

Looking back, I would have started the wedding a little earlier to give ourselves more time.

My advice: Don’t get too tied up in planning that you forget to enjoy it. Don’t expect everything to go perfect. Decide what parts are most important to you and focus on that and relax on the rest.

 Kari’s RECOMMENDED VENDORS

Photographer, Video + Photo booth: SHUTTERFREEK {more info}.  They did an amazing job on the pictures. The photo booth was so much fun and they were helpful the whole way through the wedding. Katie was like having a friend with me and I had just met her. She also helped me with a timeline of when we should do things like the first dance and bouquet toss. And they were all so nice to everyone. A complete joy to share our day with.

Cake: Sweet Cakes Bakery. The cake was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. Our quests went on and on about how good it was. Ilene also made us chocolate covered strawberries that were very tasty. She also had great customer service and went above and beyond to make our day great. Highly recommended.

Hair & Makeup: La Roux Salon. Very professional and so much fun. They were such a blast to have around and we looked great.

Wedding Style: Steampunk

With Steampunk Snowdown happening in a few weeks, we thought it would be fun & fitting to share some Steampunk wedding inspiration!  Grab a copy of the 2015 Magazine to view a Steampunk-inspired wedding at the Powerhouse Science Center.

Steampunk Styled Wedding Shoot, Durango

From the style team: The inspiration behind Steampunk stems from mechanical gears, industrial light, tarnished metals, and inventive eyewear all juxtaposed against a more feminine, organic and whimsical atmosphere. This shoot features 5 vignettes all designed around this theme. Our tablescape included materials of silver, cedar, and brass, softened by blush florals, succulents, mustard linens, and curious magnifying glasses. The place cards were accented with miniature whiskey delights and skeleton keys. The lounge was a luxurious spread of mustards and rich browns surrounded by vintage trunks and cameras complete with elegant sofas and wingback chairs. Organic and rich desserts sat sweetly atop mismatched platters surrounded by draping floral and old bedsprings adorned with tantalizing tags. “let them eat cake.” Whiskey poured out of timeworn decanters by our charming mustached bartender flows into heavy glass tumblers garnished with pomegranate, citrus, and sprigs of rosemary and mint. Last but certainly not least, our ceremony featured a 6-foot chalkboard with an airy quote and majestic ship framed in by stacks of suitcases and more vintage trunks. Our bridal party was dressed to the nines with the ladies in ethereal gowns and dramatic make-up and the gentlemen in dapper suits and top hats.
